Introducing David Ward – Tenterden’s Labour Choice for Kent County Council

David Ward is Labour’s candidate for the Tenterden division in the Kent County Council election on 1st May. He has lived here for 28 years and is a member of Tenterden Town Council. David has a strong commitment to public service. He worked in Parliament as a senior adviser to the late Labour leader John Smith, is President of a major road safety charity and expert in global automotive standards. He sits on the Planning Committee of the Council and has campaigned hard for action by KCC to repair potholes in our town.

He has family links with Tenterden that go back to the 1930s and proud to have brought up his family here. He is grandfather to his daughter Katy’s two boys and inspired by the dedication of his late son Alex Ward who served as an Ashford Borough Councillor until his untimely death from motor neuron disease in 2020.

“I would be proud and privileged to be Tenterden’s Kent County Councillor. The Tories have taken Tenterden for granted for years and Reform are led by a cheer leader for Putin and Trump. I have the experience and commitment to public service to speak up for our town and villages. In the next few years we are facing huge changes to our local democracy. By 2028 we will have a new unitary authority replacing Kent County and Ashford Borough Councils. I have known senior members of the Cabinet for over thirty years and can work the Labour Government and Council Leaders to reform our local democracy and improve our vital public services. That won’t happen if Tenterden elects Conservative or Reform candidates. Whichever way you voted in the past, lend me your support on 1st May to ensure that Tenterden’s voice is heard”.
